Hackney Barkers Ltd – Terms & Conditions (Grooming Services)

Hackney Barkers Ltd (“we”, “us”, “our”) is committed to providing high-quality, safe, and enjoyable grooming services for your dogs. By booking an appointment, you agree to these Terms & Conditions.
1. Scope of Services
Grooming services are provided at our salon only. We offer standard grooming and specialised treatments, including ultrasonic teeth cleaning, which requires a separate consent form outlining risks, limitations, and outcomes. All services are provided with your dog’s safety and wellbeing as the top priority.
2. Booking, Deposits & Payment
A £50 deposit is required to confirm any appointment, payable via payment link or in-store. The remaining balance is paid after the groom at checkout. Appointments are only confirmed once the deposit is received. By booking, you acknowledge and accept these Terms & Conditions.
3. Cancellations & No-Shows
48 hours’ notice is required for cancellations or rescheduling to receive a deposit refund. Appointments cancelled with less than 48 hours’ notice or no-shows will result in loss of the deposit. If an appointment slot cannot be refilled, the full service charge may apply.
4. Client Card & Health Declaration
All grooming appointments require a completed and signed client card before the appointment.
The client card collects: Owner details (name, address, phone, email), Vet details, Dog details (name, breed, age, birthday), Medical conditions, allergies, vaccinations, neutering status, flea/worming treatments, Behaviour history and any aggression risks, Consent for dog-safe treats. By submitting the client card, you confirm that all information is accurate and complete. Hackney Barkers cannot be held responsible for incidents resulting from undisclosed medical conditions, behaviour issues, or inaccurate information.
5. Grooming Care & Vet Intervention
Grooming carries some risks, including stress or minor injuries. We will always act in the best interests of your dog. We may remove small foreign objects (e.g., grass seeds, thorns) for your dog’s comfort. Any veterinary costs incurred will be the owner’s responsibility. In emergencies, we have permission to seek immediate veterinary treatment and will contact you as soon as possible. All veterinary costs are covered by the pet owner. During grooming, if we find lumps, bumps, skin irritations, or infections, you will be informed. Following up with a vet is the owner’s responsibility.
6. Behaviour & Muzzling
Owners must disclose any history of biting or aggression. A muzzle may be used if necessary, and Hackney Barkers reserves the right to terminate a groom if safety is compromised. In these cases, the full service charge applies.
7. Parasites & Matted Coats
Dogs should not attend if suffering from a flea infestation; home treatment is required. If fleas/ticks are found during grooming, an additional £10 charge applies for extra treatment and equipment sterilisation. Matted coats may be clipped for welfare reasons, and additional charges may apply. Owners acknowledge that coat regrowth may be affected.
8. Appointments, Late Arrivals & Late Collection
Please arrive on time for your appointment. Arrivals later than 30 minutes may result in a partial groom; however, the full service charge will still apply. Late Collection / Emergency Care Fee:Dogs must be collected promptly at the end of their appointment. If your dog is not collected on time, an emergency daycare fee of £10 per 30 minutes will be charged. This fee covers the extra care and staff attention required to manage your dog safely until collection.
9. Dental Treatments
Ultrasonic teeth cleaning or other specialised dental treatments require a separate consent form. The form outlines risks, limitations, and potential need for additional sessions or veterinary referrals.
10. Photographs & Media Consent
We may take photos/videos of dogs for social media or marketing. If you do not wish for your dog to be photographed or filmed, please inform a member of staff before the appointment.
11. Liability & Safety
Grooming carries some risks, including minor injuries or stress. By booking, you accept this risk.You confirm your dog has no known allergies or accept any risk of reaction.Hackney Barkers is not liable for personal property brought into the salon. We have full public liability insurance, certificate available on request.
12. Limitation of Liability
Hackney Barkers Ltd is not liable for loss, injury, or damage to pets or property beyond the value of services paid for. By submitting the client card and booking an appointment, you acknowledge that grooming carries some risk, which you accept.
13. Force Majeure
We reserve the right to cancel or reschedule appointments due to events beyond our control, including staff illness, extreme weather, or emergencies. Customers will be notified as soon as possible, and deposits can be carried forward or refunded at our discretion.
14. Intellectual Property
All content on the Hackney Barkers website, including images, blog posts, and marketing material, is the property of Hackney Barkers Ltd. Content may not be copied or reproduced without our written permission.
15. Governing LawThese Terms & Conditions are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
