This combined course is designed for those with no previous grooming experience who are committed to becoming fully qualified professional dog groomers. Our intimate classes, with no more than two students per tutor, allow us to provide each student with a tailored learning path based on their individual needs.
You'll learn:
Bathing, drying and coat preparation Washing, drying and preparing coats correctly across different coat types and breeds.
Breed-specific grooming and styling Grooming and finishing different breeds to industry standards, including trimming and hand stripping.
Scissoring and creative grooming Advanced scissor work and creative styling techniques, from breed-specific finishes to more expressive, artistic cuts.
Dog handling and behaviour Safe handling, moving and lifting dogs, health checking, and reading canine behaviour throughout the grooming process.
Health, safety and salon hygiene Industry-standard health and safety procedures, biosecurity, and legislation relevant to the dog grooming industry.
Client care and record keeping Professional communication, customer service, and maintaining accurate client and dog records.
Business management Pricing, marketing, and client management. The practical knowledge needed to run your own grooming business.

The Level 2 Certificate is the first step into professional dog grooming. You'll gain the practical skills and hands-on experience needed to work confidently as a grooming assistant in a professional salon environment.
Classes are small, with a maximum of 2 students per tutor, and training is hands-on from day one. By the end of the course, you'll have a strong foundation to begin your grooming career, and a clear path to Level 3 if you want to go further.
What You’ll Learn:
Bathing, drying and coat preparationThe foundation of every good groom. You'll learn to prepare coats correctly, wash and dry dogs to a professional standard, and get them ready for styling.
Basic trimming and coat care An introduction to trimming and coat maintenance, including managing tangles and matting across different coat types.
Dog handling and behaviour Safe moving, lifting, and handling of dogs, alongside an introduction to canine behaviour and breed characteristics.
Professional grooming tools How to use and maintain professional grooming equipment correctly, building the confidence you'll need in a salon environment.
Health, safety and salon hygiene The industry-standard procedures and biosecurity practices that underpin everything in a professional grooming salon.
Professional conduct What it means to work to a professional standard, from how you present yourself to how you operate within a salon.
